Abstract

This paper presents an experimental study on the diameter accuracy and material removal rate obtained during machining of micro shafts through wire electric-discharge grinding (WEDG). Many trials were taken by machining aΦ2.0mm High Speed Steel (HSS) pin to Φ0.60mm under various conditions to analyze the effect of process parameters. The diameters of the shafts were measured using stereo microscope at various magnifications. The effects of various parameters were analyzed for the variation in diameter and material removal rate (MRR). The better process parameters were estimated using the signal to noise ratio and the experimental results were analyzed using analysis of variance approach
